I knew Pete since attending Simpson Elementary School. His soul had some special challenges, and Pete did his utmost to meet them. I volunteered, during an 8th grade football practice, for Pete to fill in my position after he had begged the coach to let him play. After Pete and I were denied, and I got into a heated argument with the coach, I quit the team and walked off the field. I learned the following day, from my home room teacher who was another coach, that half the team quit after I walked off the field in support of Pete. Pete was a special Spirit among us and did his best from which many of us learned some important life lessons. I am happy you are free of your challenges, Pete, now that you have returned home.
